No matter how bad you don’t want it you are ALWAYS accountable to someone.
Accountability causes you to be honest
causes you to confess when you are wrong
strengthens your relationship with your accountability partner
makes you think before you act
forces yo to realize your weaknesses and strengths
Aids in the confession process
Helps you to realize that you are a sinner in need of grace and mercy
We need each other!
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
James 5:16
I implore you to also confess your strengths, your daily victories as well as your faults. No matter how small they may seem, they are triumphant take overs in areas that have previously defeated you. These conquests are the building blocks that make you stronger. The success over sin that has previously made you stumble and fall. These ever so small or miniscule accomplishments add up to HUGE VICTORIES!!!
We must crawl before we can walk and we must walk before we can run and we must exercise repetitively before we are capable of running a marathon. Start out simply, with one goal and accomplish it. Don’t try to tackle the world on day one.
Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment 1 Peter 2:2
I encourage you all to get a copy of the Bible that is easy for you to read and pray for God through His Spirit to help you understand. There are many books in the New Testament that can be read in a matter of minutes. These shorter books can give you a sense of accomplishment as well as feed your spiritual desire for God’s Word. Talk with the person you have selected as your accountability partner about what you are reading and learning. If you can’t make church services or just feel like for some reason you won’t be accepted there, try to find some online and live stream them. Listen to Christian radio. Download an app to your mobile device or tablet. Immerse yourself in God’s word. And speak openly about it. THERE IS POWER IN OUR SPOKEN WORD!!!
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:21
for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:37
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes Romans 1:16a
And they overcame him (Satan) because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony Revelation 12:11a
SPEAK OUT DEAR FRIENDS!!! Don’t be silent about what God has done and is doing for you!!! Not only to your liability colleague but to others who don’t believe that you are strong enough to be who you say you are in Christ. When I first quit drugs I told everyone who I came in contact with the changes that were taking place. Many didn’t believe what I said. After all, I had tried to change my lifestyle many times before. Many didn’t want to believe. They wanted me to stay the same as I had been. But through my persistence, the grace of God and the strength of the Holy Spirit inside me and through the power of the Word of God, I am celebrating another year of sobriety and gaining close to being clean for a decade!
So brothers and sisters, if you are under attack from the enemy and besieged by addiction of any kind, please allow me to speak words of encouragement into your life and spirit. THERE IS HOPE!!! I was an addict for 30+ years and am now living an abundant life free of drugs, alcohol, pornography and a myriad of other dependencies that had me so deeply ensnared that I thought there was no escape and no expectation of deliverance.
Only through the help of God Almighty, our Creator, His Word the Holy Bible and the power of the Holy Spirit who Christ promised to all of us who believe can I maintain from day to day this life of freedom and sobriety.
In fact, it says,“The message is very close at hand;it is on your lips and in your heart.”And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:8-10,13
More of that spoken word thing I was just talking about. Speak it out dear friend.
Heavenly Father, I am in no way worthy to ask anything of You. I am a sinner and I am in desperate need of Your love, mercy and grace to help me live my day to day life that I am so good at making a mess of. I do confess Jesus right now and I trust in Your Written word and my spoken word to you. Please hear my cry out to you Father God and save me. Help me to understand Your Word. Help me to be the person that You created me to be. Through Christ my Lord I pray and trust, AMEN!!!
